2. Raiding

What's your pre-WoTLK raiding experience?(If you played on a different character please post armory link) Started playing the game after AQ40 was released so nothing worth noting in Vanilla. In BC i did ML, ZA, Kara and the first few bosses of BT. Also killed Kazzak =] I quit the game because i had some real life obligations, my account got hacked & banned and i didnt really care at the time. It was too late when i decided to start playing again in 3.2, so i had to start from scratch.

When did you start playing/raiding?(Add /played) Playing was back in december 2005. Tried out several classes and never got into the raiding part properly. It was way too demanding for one of my age, and as a 12 year old kid i wasnt very good at raiding anyway. I got into raiding in 2007 or so, joined a raiding guild etc. With this character i started raiding when Ulduar came out, have 60 days /played time.

What's your experience in WotLK?(Most important hardmodes you completed)
Done stuff like Firefighter and some 10-man Ulduar hardmodes. Out of current content i have:

• ICC10 - 10/12        ICC10 Heroic - 4/12
• ICC25 - 11/12        ICC25 Heroic - 9/12
• RS10 - 0                 RS25 - 1/1

What do you enjoy most about the game?(Mention certain encounters you find enjoyable and/or challenging) I like the whole idea of an expansive universe, i love Lore. I like how players fight for a goal, united. I like chatting with people that share interests with me.

3. Character information

Why did you choose this talent spec for raiding? I dont have the hit Rating for Fire and Frost isnt a viable raiding spec. Which leaves me with Arcane.

What benefits do you bring to the raid? a Raid wide %3 increased Damage buff, a %3 crit buff to any other caster. Gnomish Army Knife, a free rez. (I usually survive wipes if i dont have the Heroism debuff)

Do you use any macros or specific keybindings?

I use this macro to bind all my CD's into my primary nuke:

I also use other situational macro's for yelling stuff, /target'ing etc.

What is your current secondary spec and are you able to raid with it if we ask you to? My secondary specs range from a Frost PvP spec to Fire/arcane Hybrids, Raiding Fire specs and Frost Raiding specs. I just love experimenting. If you require a fire mage i can also raid as fire (I'll just go pick the Hit trinket up for 60 emblems)

What would you like to improve stats or gear wise? Stat wise i've been working on my Haste, Gear wise i'd like to drop some haste-lacking gear along with my Trinket.

If you have a gathering profession or your professions are not maxed out please explain why. I dont have a Gathering profession

We enforce all our raiders to enchant their boots with tuskarr's vitality, if you dont have it please state a reason. I dropped it for Nitro boosts. I think this is a better option for a mage, as i have blink to go with this. I can change it if you insist.


4. Guild information

List your previous guilds:(Mention for each one why you left)

   

• Realization: I couldnt raid at the time
• Kill em All: Joined for sociality, left for Quantum.
• Quantum: Merged with Insomniacs.
• Insomniacs: Quantum people left the guild, the resulting crysis left the guild in bad shape so some CL and Officers left too. The guild leader also stated that he wouldnt be available for the summer, so... i quit.
• Atrox: I joined and stayed in for exactly 2 weeks, nothing happened and the GL also went mad over england losing the cup so i left. I mean who wants to be in a guild where the GL kicks the second Raid team because they made fun of england?
• Link Achievement: Well these dudes were pretty demanding and Raid dedicated. They'd bash you during raids, and they would actually help you with performance etc. They were a fun bunch and i spent 3 weeks with them as trial. They were having issues of which i was unaware at the time and wouldn't promote anyone to Member, they also had a very strict loot policy which blocked trials out of 25man Heroic loot and because 277 gear was the only loot dropping - only members would get it. Not that i complained about it though, i thought that it was a well enforced restriction aiming to filter out the loot whores. Around a week or so ago they suddenly broke up and most of the officers and a few exceptional members left for Radeon. I'm mad at them for keeping me in 3-week trial for a dead guild but i guess the time i spent wasnt completely wasted.

When can you raid?(Mention days or periods you won't be able to raid) I can raid anytime during the summer, when school starts i will be able to raid any day but with a 18:00-24:00 schedule.

Reason you'd like to join Solace? I want to progress, i've started missing the whole raid atmosphere. It's kind of addicting Oh and also because you keep rejecting me
Do you know anyone in Solace? Who? I probably do, have to look through the roster though...

What do you want to achieve with the guild? I'll talk about that when i actually get into the guild :S I mean, this is my 3rd application right? wow! I'd say the thing i want to achieve with the guild is... joining the guild


5. Practical matters

Do you have Ventrilo installed? Yes i do. I also have Skype, Teamspeak and Mumble.

Do you have a microphone? Are you comfortable using it? If you are asking if we can communicate over Ventrilo my answer is, yes we can! (yes we can is a hyperlink btw)

Which connection do you have (cable, ADSL, ... + operator name)? List your average latency as well. I've got a 16MiB connection, have around 100-140 latency in the evenings. Drops to around 70-80 in the mornings.

How reliable is your connection? Do you have any DC's? I dont.


6. Random questions

Any notable alts? Twinks in the 29 and 39 brackets. 82 level mage (Its this character renamed to Slashslap) on the Cataclysm beta server Mekkatorque.

If you could change 1 thing about the game what would that be? Well most of the things i "would" change are the lockout mechanics of raids. They just seem too troubling. I would also change raiding as a whole, so that the instance adapted to the group - not the other way around, which would make possible raiding with a 7man group etc.

Do you play any other games? I play Bad Company 2 and Dragon Age. I'm also testing Cataclysm.

What do you expect from Cataclysm? Hmm i dunno, checking it out

Ill be honest and say we have 3 very active mages atm and i could be tempted to take another if the application and char was exceptional, im sorry to say this is not(no offence).

I think i would prioritise on my Trinket, Neck, Wrists and Off-hand.

What gear upgrades are available outside of riaiding?

The only "possible" upgrade are the ToC craftable wrists, just because they have haste on them. They are -however- downgrades, according to Rawr.

how do you plan your gear?

I use Rawr. I sometimes check out wowhead.com for some random number crunching people tend to do down there.

crafted boots would be a ~50dps increase for you(or 100 dps if you took sandels of cons. but i believe you will need the hit from deathfrost boots when you upgrade your wep and oh) , depends if you have the gold to make them.

Belt is also upgradeable from badges(~70dps), how many do you have?

Offhand - shrivelled heart is better (~25dps) than what you have with you current stats i.e plenty hit!

i agree the toc bracers are now a downgrade for you.

your only "viable" upgrades for trinkets are DFO or the RS equivlent and the hc version of the spyglass.

I spent around 8k gold on the Crafted legs and nearly 4k on engineering :S I dont have the gold for the boots, i might if i sell Belt of the Lonely Noble that i have on AH.

I have 22 badges at the moment. I never realized that there was a haste belt :S I've been spending my emblems on PvP gear

HoR isnt very farmable tbh, i can try and obtain that however.

understandable you have spent alot of gold on your upgrades, which you have done quickly too.
I guessed incorectly you would already have the shrivelled heart OH as it was the best OH outside of raids.
As for not knowing there was a Haste belt available from badges :s this worries me about how you plan your gear, if you do use rawr as stated, its clearly there on the list.

I'd mainly use Rawr to compare gear, instead of plan a loot-path for myself.

For gear planning i would check wowhead for boss drops and then note every suitable cloth piece, compare them in rawr and then write them down in my notebook(RL one )
Every guild i've been in for the past 2-3 months, disbanded whilst i was in trial. I never was given the chance to roll on gear, nor was i given the chance accomodate points for it. Which might explain the reason i havent taken gear planning so seriously. I have done HoR and the off-hand didnt drop, its not something i can farm. Judging one over not having luck isn't fair

The belt is something easily obtainable, just need 38 badges. So if i was to do my weekly and daily tommorow, and do both VoA's i would ahve around 11 more etc. and ICC bosses would give 2 each so it's not at all out of reach.

im gonna acept on an extended trial partly because of the effort you have put into join the guild. You will be watched and evaluated during your trial. Part of your trial will also be to see how having 4 active mages works out.
